New Head Coach and Trainer for the 2023-2024 Season - Coach Chris Shank

HVAA welcomes to the Yellow Jackets family Coach Chris Shank, who will serve as the team's new head coach and will start as they enter their U15 season. Our current Head Coach, Marc Ammaturo, will remain on the team and assume the team's assistant coach position. 

Chris Shank: Chris Shank has been coaching all levels of soccer, from youth to college, for 24 years. He most recently coached two teams at the Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals, coached 09 and 08 ODP, as well as the New Hope Solebury boys varsity team. Chris was the Director of the girls at the Ukrainian Nationals. He took his 2000 girls' team to win state and regionals and placed second in Nationals. Chris has also coached and won the state championship for girls at CB West in 2014 and the state championship in 2010 for the boys at New Hope. He holds his USSF C license as well as his Advanced National Diploma. Chris has been recognized as Coach of the year for high school three times. He started all his years at Neshaminy high school, followed by ESU while playing club soccer for Phoenix and Danubia Majors. Chris started the women's soccer program at Bucks County Community College. He was also a trainer for Total Soccer. He graduated from Temple University with a BS in Health and Phys Ed teaching and his Master of Ed. Chris has been a Health and PE teacher in the New Hope Solebury school district for over 20 years. For the 2023-2024 season, Coach Chris will serve as the head coach for the HVAA Yellow Jackets 2009 boys team and the HVAA Lions 2010 girls team.

Coach Marc Ammaturo - Current Head Coach for the 2022-2023 and Assistant Coach for the 2023-2024 Season

Marc Ammaturo: Coach Marc grew up in Northeast Philadelphia where he played travel soccer as a youth.  Marc is now in his seventh year as the head coach of the 2009 HVAA Yellow Jackets and is an assistant coach for 2013 HVAA Freedom. He started coaching youth soccer in 2013 and has spent the last ten years coaching in-house and travel soccer at HVAA as well as serving on the HVAA Board. Marc earned the USYS “E” Coaching License and Grassroots Coaching License, and a United Soccer Coaches 11v11 Pre-National certification.  He also holds a Double-Goal Coach certification from Positive Coaching Alliance and United Soccer Coaches Mental Performing Training Certification. Marc leads his team with the principle that positive coaching ultimately allows his players to deliver their best performance. 

Current Team Trainer for the 2022-2023 Season is Chris Tomarelli  

Chris Tomarelli: Chris has been with HVAA as a trainer for the past 6 years. He grew up in Springfield Township and played for FC Coppa and was on the ODP team. He played HS soccer for Springfield Township High School (’04) where he achieved All-League all 4 years as well as League MVP. Chris attended Bloomsburg University, where he was a 4-year starter. He received the honor of Scholar-Athlete and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (’09). While coaching, training, and playing, Chris earned a Master of Education at Cabrini University in 2012. He currently trains the 2009 Yellow Jackets, 2009 Wolfpack, 2007 Honey Badgers, 2006 Force while also coaching the U23 Men’s team. Chris holds a USYS "E” License. He currently coaches the 2009 Girls Supernovas at Springfield Soccer Club in Montgomery County. For the 2023-2024 season, Coach Chris will serve as head coach of the HVAA Stingers 2010 team, in addition to training our other HVAA teams.
