Thorne Holder
Thorne Holder is the HVAA Director of Goalkeeping, bringing with him an impressive resume to help each of our Goalkeepers improve. He is one of the most experienced leaders in holistic goalkeeping in America. He is known for his magnetic energy and rousing motivational speeches.
For the past 23 years, Thorne has coached and mentored thousands of goalkeepers from different parts of the world, helping them to accomplish their dreams by developing a good soccer spirit, great training and life habits, and beautiful and seamless technique.
He played his best soccer for Trinidad and Tobago National U-21 team in the World Cup Qualifiers. This led to Thorne getting a full scholarship to the University of Maryland and Playing four years of D1 soccer. After four successful years, he landed his most notable contract with the Major League Soccer team Philadelphia Union in 2011.
Thorne Established The Holder Goalkeeping School in Philadelphia in 2023 to provide goalkeepers of all ages an opportunity to learn goalkeeping with friends every week all year. Keeper School is on Saturday and Sunday mornings every weekend.
Originally from Trinidad and Tobago, Thorne started his college career at the University of Maryland. Later, after transferring to Adelphi University, Thorne started in 47 matches and recorded 19 shutouts. After his college career, Thorne was signed by the Philadelphia Union of the MLS and also spent a season playing for FC New York of the USL.
Thorne is currently the Goalkeeper Coach for the Jefferson University men's soccer team.
